What is humate?

Humate is a pure form of organic matter, it is an accumulation of partially decayed forest and other carbon rich plant residues that have been compressed and preserved over the ages. These humate deposits are high in carbon, natural minerals and trace elements and are referred to as humic substances, they also contain two very powerful bioactive substances, Humic Acid and Fulvic Acid.

01 · ORIGIN

Ancient plants

Vegetation accumulated and was preserved beneath the earth.

02 · TRANSFORMATION

Natural deposit

Time and geology formed a humate rich deposit.

03 · FARM USE

Practical use

Extracted, dried and screened for farm application.

Soil first farming

Start with the ground beneath your crop.

Humate can complement a sound fertility programme across pasture, horticulture, viticulture and cropping.

◉

Nutrient efficiency

Humic substances help hold nutrients in the root zone and support more effective fertiliser use.

◇

Reduction in Leaching

Better nitrogen retention in the soil will help reduce the potential for nutrient losses below the root zone as part of a well-managed fertiliser programme.

↟

Soil biology

Organic carbon and humic substances provide a more supportive environment for soil microbial activity.

✺

Root environment

Improve the conditions around roots while building a longer-term soil management programme.

For your farming system

Useful across pasture, cropping, horticulture and viticulture.

Use raw humate directly on soil, alongside fertiliser or within a broader programme tailored to crop and soil tests.

Not all humate is equal.

Southern Humates has consistently been found to be high in humic acid, up to 46%, setting it apart from other raw humates. Ask for Southern Humates.
