What is humate?

Nature’s way to boost growth and productivity.

The natural material

What are humates?

Humate is a pure form of organic matter, an accumulation of partially decayed forest and other carbon rich plant residues that have been compressed and preserved over the ages.

These humate deposits are high in carbon, natural minerals and trace elements and are referred to as humic substances. They also contain two powerful bioactive substances: Humic Acid and Fulvic Acid.

Humic acid is essential to the life of earth. It is present in the organic matter that feeds plants as well as bacteria, fungi and nematodes. These provide food for larger soil organisms, which in turn provide food for organisms further up the food chain. This nutrient cycling process provides nutrients in the soil to feed our plants, commonly referred to as the Soil Food Web.

Soil first farming

Why use humates?

  • Stimulation of soil biology
  • Increased fertiliser nutrient retention
  • Increased crop and pasture yields
  • Reduced nitrate leaching
  • Improved water holding capacity
  • High Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC)
  • Improves nutrient uptake
  • High in organic matter
  • High in carbon
  • Improves soil structure
